Dr. Norcross has asked us to go beyond the”glitzy” cover and the advertising claims, to separate real scientific evidence from the misleading research terminology and now: 5. Select materials that recognize problems are caused by a number of factors and have multiple solutions.

  • Problems are complicated.  There isn’t ONE simple explanation and there isn’t one simple solution.  A simple cause and a quick, simple solution are very appealing because then changing seems more possible, more within my grasp.
  • Beware of oversimplified solutions to long-standing, complex problems.  
  • Effective Self-Help will offer multiple strategies with many skills for your change toolbox.
